In early February of 2020, a bunch of us went to Seattle, Washington, for my cousin’s “milestone” birthday. We were just beginning to hear preliminary reports about COVID-19, which was not yet classified as a pandemic. Travel was still open and no one was wearing masks (except one person on my flight who I thought was being a drama queen).
