In Adnati, the term Mage is meant to encompass the best-known practitioners of Arcane Magic: Sorcerers, whose knowledge of magic is an innate gift of birth; warlocks, whose magic comes from a pact with non-divine supernatural beings; and wizards, whose ability to craft spells comes from years of studying arcane lore.
The term Archmage is used to describe any Mage capable of casting the most powerful spells.
Other classes that learn how to use variations of Arcane Magic — including bards, arcane tricksters, and eldritch knights, among others — but are generally not considered to be Mages.
