Elapidaans is the first month of the Common Calendar, which begins the day after the Winter Solstice (a null day that isn’t considered to be part of any month) and is the first month of winter. It is named after the Almagest god Elapida, the Basilisk.
New Year's Day is considered a “null” day and not part of any month. Printed calendars, however, often place it at the beginning of Elapidaans with a zero for the date.
Elapidaans follows Atraradaans, the final month of the year, and is followed by Chryadaans.
