The constellation Garuda is named after the Almagest god Garuda, the Peryton. It appears in the first month of autumn and represents the tenth month of the year, Garudaans, on the Common Calendar.

The constellation’s dominance in the heavens is preceded by Ketesias and is followed by Chelys.
