Uncommon to Very Rare
The Statuettes of Nondetection are magical objects that radiate nondetection per the third-level spell. When activated, the object and anything within its surroundings in the specified radius can’t be targeted by any divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors.
These objects of art can be any sort of artistic object, typically a small statue, vase, sculpture, or figurine. The formula for creating it requires that the creator include a mechanism of turning the nondetection on and off, such as by moving the statue’s arm or wing up or down, or by twisting the base or handle of the vase.
The rarity of the objects can vary, with more powerful ones being rarer, larger, and heavier. They are somewhat portable: large enough to be awkward and cumbersome, but not so large that it would be impossible for an adventuring party to carry with them.
Unless hidden or concealed, the object is normally visible to those in its presence looking at it with nonmagical means, and a detect magic spell cast upon it will reveal an aura of abjuration magic. When it is activated, the object will feel warm to the touch, which will disappear if the object is deactivated. A successful dispel magic, using the DC in the table below, will turn off the device – including causing the object’s on/off mechanism to turn to the “off” position in a manner easily perceptible to most present (Passive Perception check of 10 or better).
Rarity | Weight | Size | Range | Dispel DC |
---|---|---|---|---|
Uncommon | 50 pounds | 2 feet tall | 10′ radius | 13 |
Rare | 75 pounds | 3 feet tall | 20′ radius | 14 |
Very Rare | 100 pounds | 4 feet tall | 40′ radius | 15 |
