Geology & Lithosphere

Sages and sea travelers have long understood Adnati to be a spherical world with a circumference of about 25,000 miles and a surface area of nearly 200 million square miles.

More than half of Adnati’s surface is covered by water. The areas above sea level are dominated by five continents.

Continents of Adnati

There are five continents on Adnati:

Jaynään

The southernmost continent which covers the South Pole, Jaynään is perpetually covered in ice and snow, even in the southern hemisphere’s summer.

Lenoch

The central continent beneath Zhraig Wessex, Lenoch extends from approximately 30 degrees latitude at the north to -59 degrees latitude at the south, and from 7 degrees latitude at the west to 134 degrees latitude at the east. It is home to the only fully landlocked inland sea, the Marquez Sea.

Mountain features include the Usmev Mountains that stretch across the width of Lenoch. Mt. Aurinkovímata, a mountain peak in the northwest region of Lenoch within the country of Powys, is believed to be the highest mountain in Lenoch, stretching about 29,000 feet from sea level. It is called the  “Stairs to Aurinko,” the golden palace of the Sun in the Theosi faith.

The great island Lumadair off Lenoch’s west coast is still considered to be part of the continent of Lenoch. It is home to the Republic of Lumadair. It is a little over 2,000 miles wide, and runs from 300 to 800 miles going north-south.

Maytässa

The island continent of Maytässa does not connect to any other landmasses on Adnati. It is located southwest of Zhraig Wessex, centered at -64 degrees longitude and -26 degrees latitude. It extends approximately 4,400 miles north-south and runs between 1,300 to 2,500 miles east-west. It is home to very reclusive sylvan elves. Outsiders are permitted to visit a few coastal cities for the purpose of trade but are not permitted to travel inland.

 Zhraig Essex

The continent of Zhraig Essex, which connects with the continent Zhraig Wessex at approximately 130 degrees longitude and 58 degrees latitude, runs over 15,000 miles along its “spine.” It has the greatest north-west span of any of Adnati’s continents, running from 63 degrees latitude in the north to -66 degrees latitude in the south.

 Zhraig Wessex

The continent of Zhraig Wessex connects with the continent Zhraig Essex at approximately 130 degrees longitude and 58 degrees latitude. It is home to Mt. Tairngiri, a mountain peak estimated to be about 30,000 feet above sea level, perhaps the tallest mountain peak on Adnati. It is named after Tír Tairngiri, the mythical palace of Ordae Ruíri and the Áes Camáir gods.

The Usmev Mountains is a mountain range on Lenoch that runs approximately 6,300 miles long.
